Why HYH? Why not Yahweh or Jehovah?
If you read the introduction to The Book of Chains you know the answer to this already, but in order to clarify and expand upon this theme a bit more will be said on this page.
HYH (Ah-Yah) is the proper name of the Creator of all that exists, this planet Earth, this solar system, the universe - everything. The explanation of it is found in the book of Exodus, chapter three, verses 14 & 15:
"And Elohim said to Moshe, “HYH.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Yisra'el, ‘HYH has sent me to you.’"
"Moreover Elohim said to Moshe, “Thus you shall say to the children of Yisra'el: ‘The YHVH Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitzhak, and the Elohim of Ya'akov, has sent me to you. This My name forever, and this My memorial to all generations.’"
It's perfectly clear when you read this passage from Scripture and understand the Name being used (HYH) as well as the next, which He explains as "...His memorial to all generations" (YHVH Elohim), that over the years there has been a grievous misunderstanding by those who have tried to "reveal" the "true name" of "God" (sic). There is much dispute and disagreement within the Christian churches as to who in antiquity actually used the name "Jehovah" first, but there is a very good article located at this page: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/08329a.htm This is not a site connected in any way to The People of the Living Way and is not condoned as anything but one more error-filled religious body, but the history quoted is worth citing at this point. Suffice it to say that somewhere within the history of the apostate Christian church someone decided to take the Ibriy letters YHVH and add vowels to them, but also changing the "V" to a "W" in order to coin the word "Yahweh", which later, once English came into greater usage, became transliterated into "Jehovah". This name was of course picked up by those of lesser understanding (most notably those within the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, more commonly known as Jehovah's Witnesses) and professed as being the true name of God (sic), though as evidenced by the fact that these people continued to use the word "God" in referring to the Supreme Being proves they knew next to nothing about His Name.
So which is it, Yahweh or Jehovah? Let's take a look at both of these names.
First, since Jehovah is the more popular and widely used in today's society, we will look at that name. As discussed previously, this name is a transliteration, meaning that an ancient word of another language (in this case Ibriy or Hebrew, if you will) was taken and changed over into a word of a second language (in this case, English). Thus, YHVH became JHVH with vowels added in to make Jehovah. Since this is a transliteration it already is proven as a false assumption of His Name, since His true Name can only be found in Ibriy, not English. Taking any name and making a transliterated English name out of it renders a false name by any accounting. Yes, as English speaking people we are free to coin new names from old and thus we have a myriad of names (especially in America where strange, new spellings of old names are quite popular) never known before today's modern society. These new names are viewed as the equivalent of the old, original names and accepted as modern versions of those names, but we can never look back to an ancient personage and call that person by the modern equivalent, since that one was never known by the modern name and cannot thus be spoken of as holding the modern version of his name. By this reasoning, no matter how you look at the name of Jehovah it is a false name when applied to the Creator.
What about Yahweh? Certainly since that is derived straight the original Ibriy it must be legitimate, right? Nothing could be further from the truth. Once again, Yahweh is a transliteration of the Ibriy letters YHVH, where first the "V" is made into a modern "W" and then vowels are added to form an entirely new word that never existed in the ancient tongue. We know this is false because although in the word Yahweh we do find the root of the actual true name of our Creator, which is HYH (Ah-Yah), the rest of the importance of the true translation of YHVH is lost. What exactly does Yahweh mean? No one within the hierarchy of the Christian churches can give us an accurate definition of this word, other than to claim it as the legitimate rendering of His Name, which is not true in any manner.
Let's take a look at the letters used in YHVH and how they should and originally were sounded out. YHVH is what Jewish and Christian "scholars" have termed the "tetragrammaton", which is a Greek word that simply means a "word having four letters". Since the ancient Ibriy (not Jews, since that is a completely different name and word and will not be looked at in the scope of this particular study) were forbidden by HYH to speak his name any longer because of the many instances wherein they rejected His commands to them and did as they pleased in spite of Him, they ceased using the true Name of HYH and in place of His Name in the Ibriy Scriptures placed the four letters "YHVH". Why these letters? When you break them down into their two integral parts you will see why.
In Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible we find in the Hebrew (sic) dictionary at number 3068 the word YHVH. This is referenced in Strong's as being "the proper name of the one true God", but the actual definition of this name is not given. We then must look at two other words within the Scriptures in order to accurately understand the name of YHVH.
We already know that "Yah" is the root for HYH and is used in many words and names throughout the Ibriy Scriptures, so that part of this word can be set aside for now. There is another word in the Ibriy which means "breathed" and carries the connotation of giving life to; that word is HVH and is pronounced "havah". When you take the two parts of this word "Yah" and "havah" and place them together you have the word we are looking at here, YHVH or "Yahavah" (in pronunciation only). This means "Yah-breathed" and most often is used in the Scriptures in accordance with the word "elohiym" or "elohim" and means "mighty ones" (Note that this word is always used in the plural form). Elohiym in English is almost always translated as "god" and most often refers to the Creator as "God" (sic). Thus we have the two words together as YHVH Elohiym, meaning the "Yah-breathed Mighty Ones". It is this understanding that HYH gave to Moshe at what is commonly called "the burning bush passage" in Exodus chapter three and is called "My memorial to all generations".
HYH gave this phrase in Exodus along with His Name so that when Moshe went to the Ibriy being held captive in Egypt at that time and told them he had spoken with the one true elohiym their fathers had worshipped before coming to Egypt that these people would know the One he spoke with truly was the elohiym worshipped by Avraham, his son and grandsons. It is what we are to know Him as today as well, for He made it known to the People of the Living Way back when Yahshua walked this Earth and made the way for us to be cleansed of our sins and allowed into the presence of HYH and had them preserve this Name for today's generation, which is that which will see our Savior return one day soon.
Throughout Scripture we are told that His Name is important and we must speak His Name and we are known by the usage of His Name and His Name is used constantly throughout what is commonly called the Old Testament of the Bible. If you know how to look for His Name you will find it consistently throughout Scripture as HYH. Thus, when His name is referred to, such as in the word halleluyah (meaning to give praise and worship to HYH) used throughout the Book of Psalms (ie, Psalms 68:4), as well as many other references, the root of Yah is found contained within this word so that we know from the translation of it that, "you must all praise Yah", and we know that this is "the Name above all names" that we are to speak and use and call Him by.
His Name is not Yahweh and is certainly not Jehovah, for these are names created by man in his ignorance and lack of understanding. The true worshippers will know His Name and call Him by His Name (Yohanan 4:23) and worship Him in breath and truth.
His Name is HYH and he is the YHVH Elohiym who became Yahshua 'Mashiyach for our sins.
